Peugeot 307 (01 - 07)

With a wide range of body types including a hatchback, estate, coupe and convertible version as well as a wide range of petrol and diesel engines – the 307 was a car built to be all things to all people. It replaced the excellent 306 and despite the high expectations associated with this, it went on to win European Car of the Year in 2002 – offering people a stylish and well-equipped alternative in a market dominated by C-segment rivals like the Golf at the time. The design has aged well and there are some serious bargains to be had on 307s on the used market today.

Look out for

  • Check the electrics are all working, especially in the earlier models

What we like

  • Stylish and timeless design
  • Generous level of standard equipment
  • Available in a wide range of body types
  • Taller stance means plenty of headroom in the front and rear
  • Good range of fuel-efficient engines

What we don't like

  • Residual values may not be as good as some rivals
